The increasing integration of sensors, electronic devices, and signal processing architectures in environmental applications allow real-time data acquisition and analytics, and it even assists the infrastructures to respond in real time according to user requirements, which makes them smart and intelligent. The latest research on smart technologies like sustainable power and energy, environmental engineering, nano electronics, sensors and actuators, distributed signal processing models provide promising and real-time solutions to the various number of challenges faced by the civil engineering communities in a broader context of infrastructures, with a particular emphasis on smart environmental systems and sustainable environmental expansion and preservation. The recent research progress on high-performance materials, recyclable materials for infrastructure facility construction and rehabilitation, anomaly detection, non-destructive testing, autonomous environmental condition assessment (e.g. unmanned systems/drone applications), intelligent sensor deployment and system integration for network-level infrastructure management has changed the human lifestyle across the globe. Despite the hype, these implications are still remaining in the nascent stage and need to be understood in a timely manner and carefully considered in near future engineering practices. To perform this, the International Conference on Material Science, Smart Structures and Applications (ICMSS 2023) aims to provide an interdisciplinary platform for the researchers from both academia and industries and lends itself to the integration of recent research works in the field of Smart structures for Environmental Applications. ICMSS 2023 is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering & the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Surya Engineering College, Erode, India.
Sri Andavar Charitable Trust(SAECT),Erode consists of 14 philanthropists from different walks of life who realize the need for technical education , formed the trust and promoted “Surya Engineering College” in the year of 2008 to (Approved by AICTE,New Delhi & Affiliated by Anna University , Chennai) achieve technical excellence. Surya Engineering College has a state-of-the –art- campus. The lush , green campus is located 12 kms from Erode at Mettukkadai.The pleasant environment consists of 20 acres of land eith a good landscape which provides an atmosphere that is best suited for learning.

The college has developed excellent facilities and resources such as well-equipped laboratories well-stacked library, dedicated computer centre, spacious classrooms and seminar halls.
The academic block has well-ventilated lecture halls, an examination hall, computer center and trust rooms all of which contain access points to the campus with network.
